PCI Geomatics completes Web Coverage Service testing

Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, 5 March 2007 - PCI Geomatics has announced that it has successfully completed the Web Coverage Service test suite from the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) for their product Geomatica WebServer Suite Web Coverage Server (WCS), Version 10.0.3.

A leading developer of image-centric software and solutions for the geospatial industry, PCI's Web Coverage Server is compliant with the OpenGIS Web Coverage Service Implementation Specification 1.0.0.

The WCS publishes geospatial information representing space varying phenomena, referred to as "coverages". The WCS is capable of serving grid-based data defined by a range of properties or values for a specified geographic location in a supported projection, resolution, and format specified by the coverage request. Unlike the Web Map Server which serves a rendered image of the data, the WCS supplies the raw data that can be used in client-side viewing or as input to scientific modeling and data analysis.

"PCI Geomatics is committed to image-centric excellence and is delighted to have been awarded compliancy by the OGC," said Dr. Robert Moses, President and CEO of PCI Geomatics.

The Geomatica WebServer Suite (GWS) provides users with the tools to publish and access a variety of web based geospatial data. The OGC compliant WCS is a great addition to the solution offerings in respects to data distribution technology. For additional information on OGC, please visit: http://www.opengeospatial.org
