Lawrence, USA, 1 March 2007 - ThinkGeo LLC has announced the release of TIGER 2006 First Edition data in ShapeFile (.shp) format.
TIGER 2006 FE data is a complete geographic dataset of the United States and all its territories in the industry standard ShapeFile format, which is the data format required by most GIS software applications. For convenience and ease-of-use, customers can choose to have their TIGER data organized into either datasets separated by individual counties or datasets separated by individual states.
TIGER 2006 FE data is the latest and most up-to-date data offered by the U.S. Census Bureau and includes ShapeFiles for all counties and equivalent entities in the United States as well as Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. TIGER 2006 FE data also includes realigned street feature coordinates for counties that have progressed through the MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project.
TIGER data is sourced royalty-free, which allows users to freely distribute their software applications without having to pay any additional fees. Finally, TIGER 2006 FE data includes the following geographic features: landmarks, census tracts, county census divisions, traffic analysis zones, school districts, railways, hydrography, voting districts, urban areas, water polygons, and zip codes.
