MAPPS, a national association of geospatial, mapping and photogrammetry firms, today announced a special dues structure for new member and associate member firms that join in 2007, the 25th Anniversary of MAPPS. First-time member firms will receive pro-rated mid-year discounts effective immediately for the remainder of 2007.
Interested firms may go to www.mapps.org/MembershipApplication.asp and join by filling out the online application. The special rates apply only to new member firms.
“With our 25th Anniversary Summer Meeting coming in July, now is a great time to join MAPPS and take advantage of all the benefits that MAPPS has to offer,” said Kurt Allen, Vice President of Photo Science Inc., and current MAPPS President. “The Summer Meeting promises to be one of the premier networking, information-sharing and educational events of the year in the geospatial community.”
The MAPPS Summer Meeting is being held July 16-20, 2007, at the Mount Washington Resort at Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. It is one of three meetings sponsored by MAPPS each year.
MAPPS was formed in 1982 by a small group of U.S. photogrammetry companies as the Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors to represent the legislative interests of private photogrammetric and aerial surveying firms. Since then, MAPPS has expanded in size and scope to become the only national association exclusively comprised of private firms in the spatial data and geographic information system field in the United States. MAPPS membership currently includes more than 160 of the geospatial community’s leading firms.
“In the past 25 years, MAPPS has grown to become a diverse organization with members representing every segment of the geospatial community,” said Mr. Allen. “New members will find that MAPPS offers an unrivaled opportunity to network with existing and potential clients and build new business relationships that will pay dividends far exceeding the investment in membership.”
Current MAPPS membership spans the entire spectrum of the geospatial community, including Member Firms engaged in surveying, photogrammetry, satellite and airborne remote sensing, aerial photography, hydrography, aerial and satellite image processing, GPS, and GIS data collection and conversion services. MAPPS also includes Associate Members, which are companies that provide hardware, software, products and services to the geospatial profession in the United States and other firms from around the world.
