CH2M HILL awarded Spatial Consulting contract

CH2M HILL Enterprise Management Solutions, information technology management consulting and solution development business company, announced it was awarded a contract by Virgin Media to provide consulting services related to the long-term spatial platform requirements of the United Kingdom-based telecommunications company. Virgin Media was formed as a result of a merger between Telewest and Virgin Mobile earlier this year.

The spatial consulting services establish a baseline from which Virgin Media can develop its physical network inventory data to support user functionality and needs. It also establishes a common framework to manage the capture of future data.

Under this contract, CH2M HILL is supporting the planning, scoping and risk management of a major data migration project required to consolidate a number of GIS platforms that support Virgin Media's physical inventory management. CH2M HILL will also recommend strategies that effectively transition the GIS land base from Ordnance Survey LandLine to MasterMap and re-align their network to address the associated challenges of positional accuracy improvement.
