ImageTree awarded Forest Inventory patent

ImageTree, the Precision Forestry Company, has been awarded a patent for extracting forest inventory data gathered through remote sensing technology. ImageTree’s patented forest inventory system includes:

# Defining stands by analyzing these images

# Correlating tree crown images with random ground sampling
# Extracting key inventory data and combining it with biometric models to determine key inventory information like diameter breast height (dbh), species, grade, volume and trees per acre
# Reporting forest data by acre, stand and/or property that is used to make the site-specific management decisions required for precision forestry.

The key to ImageTree’s patented process is the ForestSense software, which creates polygons for visible tree crowns, then measures and analyzes the details of each polygon to build the forest inventory.
