componio GmbH, turnkey hard- and software products focusing on software distribution, telecommunication and content management company, extends the free and open source library, OpenLayers, with a new layer for Map24. This extension allows for the use of maps provided by the Mapsolute GmbH. Developers will be able to integrate Map24 maps in arbitrary websites through the OpenLayers API. With this extension componio supports the goals of the OpenLayers project and its proliferation within the developer community.

MetaCarta developed the initial version of OpenLayers and released it to the public to further the use of geographic information of all kinds. OpenLayers is completely free, Open Source JavaScript, released under the BSD License. It enables embedding of a dynamic map in any web page. It can display map tiles and markers loaded from any source.
