Landsat, Ocean & Coastal Mapping, Airports GIS and Government Contracting on MAPPS Fall Policy Conference Agenda

A wide array of policy issues, including Landsat, ocean and coastal mapping, airports GIS and government contracting will be featured topics at the MAPPS Fall Policy Conference, to be held this Tuesday, November 13 at the Hilton Hotel at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Crystal City (Arlington), Virginia.

The MAPPS Fall Policy Conference is an annual event for the principals, owners, partners and senior professionals in MAPPS member firms. MAPPS is the only national association exclusively comprised of private sector firms in the geospatial community of practice.

Among the federal agencies making conference presentations are the White House, Office of Management and Budget and Office of Science and Technology Policy, Small Business Administration, Federal Highway Administration, NOAA Office of Coast Survey and Office of Space Commercialization, Department of Defense, and Federal Aviation Administration. MAPPS also hosts semi-annual liaison committee meetings with several federal agencies, and those dialogue sessions will be held at the Fall Policy Conference with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, NOAA, USGS, Transportation Security Agency and Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

"The Fall Policy Conference is a unique opportunity for MAPPS member firm principals to learn about policy issues facing their firms and affecting their relationship with government clients, and to engage in a constructive exchange of ideas with key federal geospatial agencies," said John Palatiello, MAPPS Executive Director. "MAPPS is the only geospatial association that hosts a forum with this format and content. This conference will provide our members an opportunity to learn about legislation, policies, programs, budgets and other important information affecting their firms and the geospatial market. Of course, it is also another excellent networking opportunity with other MAPPS members."
