Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announces the Beta release of the TerraSAR-X processing capability for ERDAS IMAGINE® Radar Mapping Suite 9.1. Available immediately in a downloadable service pack update, this feature will also be included in the upcoming release of ERDAS IMAGINE 9.2.
This new capability allows users to display and manipulate images captured by the TerraSAR-X satellite, launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, a joint effort of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and Infoterra’s parent company Astrium GmbH, transmits high quality X-band radar images in record time, penetrating cloud cover and requiring few ground control points. With the ERDAS IMAGINE capability, TerraSAR-X data in both remote areas and perennially cloud-covered terrain may now be mapped and analyzed.
TerraSAR-X will collect images for five years, working independently of weather conditions, providing radar images with a resolution of up to one meter.
