Full Professorship (W3) in Sensor-Based Geoinformatics in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences to be filled by October 1 , 2023. The professorship represents the field of "sensor-based geoinformatics" including remote sensing in research and teaching. Future research and teaching will focus on novel development and refinement of methods for automated, spatial measurements, assessment and modeling of structures (e.g. morphology, trees), processes (e.g. vegetation and forest dynamics) and/or exchange processes (e.g. carbon and water cycle) in geosystems and ecosystems. Future research should develop methods that serve a quantification and feed into predictions of spatially-resolved landscape and/or environmental changes for process research, risk analysis and early warning systems and/or aspects of global change. New approaches and methods in the field of automated data collection including remote sensing, data mining, data analysis and/or geo-modeling based on environmental data are to be developed and applied. An emphasis on teaching in the various B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses of the faculty is expected that cover the fundamentals of geoinformatics, remote sensing, spatial modelling and geovisualization. Prerequisites for the employment of professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
