Tokyo, Japan, 12 March 2007 - ESRI and Seiko Epson Corporation have codeveloped the ArcPress Epson universal driver, which enables joint customers to print large maps directly from their GIS software to their Epson Stylus Pro printer.
The driver was released as a new feature of ArcGIS Desktop 9.2, enabling users to quickly publish large maps while maintaining premium print quality.
ArcPress for ArcGIS, also included in ArcGIS Desktop, is a print rasterizer for fast, high-quality printing of maps, transforming them into the native language format for printers. The new driver extends the high-capacity ArcPress printer engine to support the complete lineup of Epson Stylus Pro large-format inkjet printers.
Epson Stylus Pro printers have long been supported by ArcGIS software, but the new driver means better support for large map prints from ArcGIS 9.2, even at high-output resolutions. Epson Stylus Pro printers are known for their ability to provide outstanding print quality without sacrificing productivity or affordability.
"This effort by Epson and ESRI has allowed us to combine our newly developed Epson Stylus Pro printers with ESRI's ArcGIS 9.2 software in order to address the diversifying needs of GIS users in the best possible way," commented Hiroshi Sotokawa, General Manager of the Inkjet Printer and Photo Product Design Department at Epson. "I'm confident that this new combination of technologies will set a new standard for GIS."
"ESRI's user community has requested ArcPress support for Epson Stylus Pro printers, and we are happy to answer with the ArcPress Epson Universal driver in ArcGIS Desktop 9.2," noted Michael Grossman, ESRI Software Products Engineer for ArcGIS printing. "We codeveloped this new ArcPress driver with Epson, and it will allow ESRI and Epson's mutual customers to print large maps directly from ArcMap to their Epson Stylus Pro with maximum speed and quality."
