CalGIS 2008 – Connecting California

The 14th Annual CalGIS Conference will bring together professionals in the field of GIS for a comprehensive overview of the many ways people and organizations use GIS in California and for California. The Conference will be held in Modesto, California from April 23rd-25th, 2008 at the Modesto Centre Plaza 1010 10th Street, Modesto, California 95354.

The California Geographic Information Systems Conference is a premier event offering unrivaled value to individuals and organizations in the GIS field. Attendees will find opportunities to boost both professional and organizational performance. This is a non-vendor specific event to showcase and promote GIS in our State and the individuals who work in this field.

"This year's conference is particularly important," said conference Chair RuthAnne Harbison, GIS Coordinator for the City of Merced, California. "Gathering at this conference has become the vehicle for personal and professional networking, and sharing ideas and solutions using GIS. As we come together ‘in the middle’ of our beautiful and diverse State, I look forward to sharing our work and seeing how we all use GIS... Connecting California.”

The conference will cover topics such as best-practices, GIS services information, networking opportunities, in-depth educational tracks, and will include access to the exhibit hall with sponsors showcasing the latest & greatest in the GIS industry.

Guest speakers for the opening session on Wednesday are Jim Geringer, former Governor of Wyoming, and Steven Robinson, LA City Fire. The first guest speaker for the closing session on Friday is Don Cooke, Founder and President Emeritus of Tele Atlas.
