ArcGIS Server Code Challenge

Redlands, USA, 15 February 2007 - ESRI invites developers to share their creativity and expertise with the GIS developer community by submitting original code samples to the ArcGIS Server Code Challenge at www.esri.com/codechallenge.

Developers will have an opportunity to review and vote for the top three entries based on creativity, applicability, and relevance of the code sample. Entries could include a simple task or tool or an attribute or spatial query.

Code Challenge winners will be announced at the 2007 ESRI Developer Summit, an event for developers who use GIS, mapping, and spatial data. The summit will be held March 19–22, 2007, in Palm Springs, California. Developers will learn how to leverage ESRI technology to build, customize, and deploy spatially enabled applications.

The first 15 applicants to submit their code samples and submission forms will be eligible to receive the ESRI book ArcGIS Server Administrator and Developer Guide. The Code Challenge is open to all developers, including ESRI business partners, provided the applicant or the applicant’s organization is a licensed user of ArcGIS Server 9.2 or current ESRI Developer Network (EDN) subscriber.

To enter the Code Challenge, developers need to develop an original code sample using ArcGIS Server 9.2 and upload their sample to ESRI’s ArcScripts Web pages. To qualify, the online entry form must be submitted by February 28, 2007.

The developer community will vote for first-, second-, and third-place winners based on the creativity, applicability, and relevance of the code sample. The first-place prize is a Trimble Recon GPS XB edition bundled with ArcPad software. The prize for second place is a Microsoft Xbox 360. The third-place prize is a Microsoft Zune.

Winning applications will be announced no later than March 22, 2007, at the Developer Summit and will be showcased on the ESRI.com and EDN Web sites.
