ESRI Holdings, a group of companies including ESRI (UK) and ESRI Ireland, has acquired Helyx SIS Ltd, a specialist defence consultancy, strengthening the group’s position in the Defence and National Security markets.
Helyx provides highly focused consultancy, research and infrastructure services for a range of defence and security customers, offering independent technical and project advice in the areas of MoD research, capability management and programme support.
ESRI Holdings’ main business, GIS technology, services and support, is a growth area in the Defence and National Security markets which the acquisition will enable the group to further develop.
Where applicable, ESRI Holdings’ companies will draw on each other’s strengths, experience and expertise. Helyx’s skills, domain knowledge and track record will be complemented by ESRI (UK)’s GIS capability, further enhancing the ability of both to provide mission-critical solutions and services into these sectors.
Brigadier Nick Rigby (retd.), Non-executive Director, ESRI (UK) said: “Helyx brings extensive Defence and Special Projects expertise to the ESRI group of companies and as an organisation is held in high regard within the community. The acquisition will also help ESRI (UK) extend its reach into related specialist sectors such as central government and police which are realising the potential of GIS to provide new levels of sophisticated analysis of their data.”
Howard Wilding, Managing Director, Helyx said: “ESRI Holdings’ companies are market leaders in the field of GIS and are already the major GIS provider within the Defence Market. The synergies between Helyx and ESRI (UK)’s Defence and National Security team will greatly expand the capabilities and services that we are able to offer. This makes the acquisition hugely beneficial for our clients and our own teams.”
Rick Mather, Business Development Manager for Helyx said “The acquisition of Helyx by ESRI Holdings has been warmly welcomed by all members of the Company. Working within the ESRI Holdings Group will provide significant opportunities to apply our skills and expertise widely within Defence and National Security Markets and to further expand the provision of ESRI products and services. We have enjoyed working with ESRI (UK) for a number of years and have a high regard for their products and their people. We look forward to realising the significant benefits that this acquisition will provide.”
