Free Trimble RTX App For Android Phones and Tablets

Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced today the Trimble RTX mobile app, built to serve end users across the survey, mapping and agriculture markets. Using Android smartphones and tablets, the Trimble RTX app enables the Trimble CenterPoint RTX post-processing service and the RangePoint RTX service activation portal to go mobile. The Trimble RTX app also offers a series of satellite utilities including a skyplot, information regarding satellite status, and signal-to-noise ratio graphs.

The announcement was made today at INTERGEO 2013, the world's largest conference on geodesy, geoinformatics and land management.

Powered by Trimble RTX technology, the GPS, GLONASS and QZSS enabled CenterPoint RTX post-processing service delivers better than 2 centimeter (1 inch) accuracy, and improves with larger observation files. With the Trimble RTX app, geospatial professionals using the CenterPoint RTX post-processing functionality can quickly and accurately establish their base station coordinates, reducing setup time to just minutes.

In this initial release, the CenterPoint RTX post-processing features include:

    - mobile device to GNSS receiver data transfer via Bluetooth; no need for USB keys or thumb drives
    - a library of global and regional coordinate systems where users can select the most appropriate system for the job
    - job progress alerts
    - in-app reports of processed results
    - support for a variety of Trimble receivers including the Trimble R10, the Trimble R8 (Model 4), the Trimble R6 (Model 4), the Trimble NetR9 and the Trimble NetR5

In addition, the Trimble RTX app also allows farmers to activate the Trimble RangePoint RTX correction service directly from the mobile device. Free for one year through 2013, RangePoint RTX delivers better than 15 centimeter (6 inch) pass to pass and 50 centimeter (20 inch) repeatable GNSS accuracy; it is ideal for broad acre agriculture applications.

Trimble and Bentley Alliance for Large Infrastructure Project Sites

Trident Analyst Software from Trimble

Trimble introduced today a new version of its terrestrial mobile mapping office software — Trimble Trident Analyst 4.7. The software is designed to effectively manage and interpret high-resolution digital images and large point clouds, and automatically extract features from Trimble's MX Mobile Mapping and Survey systems. These capabilities allow land mobile data to be transformed into geospatial intelligence.

The announcement was made today at INTERGEO 2011, the world's largest conference on geodesy, geoinformatics and land management.

Trident Analyst 4.7 software takes advantage of the additional random access memory offered by 64-bit operating systems to enable loading and handling of very large terrestrial mobile mapping datasets, including production-size point cloud data. 64-bit processing allows Trident Analyst users to load, display, edit and analyze billions of points and thousands of high-resolution digital images quickly and effectively.

The latest version incorporates new quality control tools for efficient review of positional and orientation accuracy, and quick validation of boresight parameters and registration results using passive objects in the mapping environment. In addition, new 3D point cloud classification capabilities increase productivity and enhance usability throughout corridor mapping and survey workflows.

Trident Analyst is designed for robust object positioning, measurement, and data layer creation—ideal for the analysis of geo-referenced imagery and laser scanner data. Industry-leading functions can accelerate projects and increase productivity, including key automated processes such as surface modeling, roadway sign and pole detection, lane marking detection, edge and breakline detection, road geometry and clearance measurements.

Trimble and Verizon Wireless announced that AllSport GPS, Geocache Navigator and Trimble Outdoors apps are now available on select Verizon Wireless feature phones, including Samsung Alias 2, Samsung Convoy and Nokia 7705 Twist.

Perfect for a variety of outdoor and fitness enthusiasts, these apps use the phone's built-in GPS to provide detailed stats, maps, and navigation essential for a variety of outdoor activities. The apps greatly enhance running, cycling, walking, backpacking and geocaching—a fast-growing outdoor sport, which combines treasure-hunting with high-tech navigation.

Trimble Wraps Up 5th International User Conference with Record Breaking Attendance

Trimble opened its 5th international users conference on Monday with more than 2,900 registered attendees from 67 countries around the world. The Trimble Dimensions 2010 conference theme—Converge, Connect and Collaborate—provided insight into how the convergence of technologies can redefine the way professionals connect and collaborate to achieve success. The conference explored the use of technology in a wide range of applications including surveying, engineering, construction, mapping, GIS, geospatial, utilities and mobile resource management. Trimble Dimensions 2010 was held November 8-10 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Trimble Dimensions 2010: Trimble MX100G GNSS+XPS Receiver

Trimble introduced today its Trimble MX100G GNSS+XPS Receiver, an integral part of the Trimble Terralite XPS System, which enables open pit mines to maximize operational efficiency by increasing positioning coverage in areas where satellite visibility is limited due to terrain. This unique receiver tracks GPS and now GLONASS constellations as well as Trimble's Terralite "ground satellites" for machine control and guidance applications used in mining operations that require high accuracy positioning with maximum availability.

The announcement was made today at Trimble Dimensions 2010.

The new Trimble MX100G GNSS+XPS Receiver is designed for high-precision guidance and control applications. The Trimble MX100G is typically installed on mining machinery such as blast hole drills, shovels and haul trucks. It plugs into standard automation software tools used by the mining industry and delivers high precision real time positioning information, helping ensure mines are fully utilizing their high-precision machine guidance systems to achieve the highest return on investment.

Trimble Acquires Accubid Systems Assets

Trimble announced today it has acquired the assets of privately-held Accubid Systems based in Concord, Ontario, Canada. Accubid is a leading provider of estimating, project management and service management software and services for electrical and mechanical contractors. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Accubid's family of software products allow electrical and mechanical contractors to analyze their estimates in great detail including CAD-based estimating and takeoff and then export the data into project management, accounting, and procurement applications. The acquisition of Accubid broadens Trimble's industry leading "BIM to field" solutions for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractors to automate project estimating and management, modeling, detailing, layout and construction.

"BIM collaboration processes are transforming the way building construction projects are planned, managed and executed," said Pat Bohle, general manager of Trimble's Building Construction Division. "Combining Accubid's deep understanding of the electrical and mechanical trades and their detail rich application data with Trimble's field solutions will provide contractors additional tools to become more productive, efficient, and prepared to meet the demands of the industry in the future."

Trimble MX8 Mobile Spatial Imaging System

Trimble introduced MX8 Mobile Spatial Imaging System, an advanced mobile data capture system that combines imaging and laser scanning capabilities to measure objects in 3D to produce 3D, 4D and 5D data sets for spatial imaging projects. The Trimble MX8 Mobile Spatial Imaging System is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2010 through Trimble's GeoSpatial sales channels.

The new Trimble MX8 Mobile Spatial Imaging System expands the scope of services that surveyors, engineers, mapping and geospatial professionals can offer to enhance their business. The system is ideal for as-built modelling, inventory, inspection, encroachment analysis and asset management for roadways, bridges, railways, utilities and other infrastructure.

With recent advances in the geospatial information industry, more opportunities and applications for spatial imaging data are being identified for industries such as transport and civil engineering, utilities and communications, natural resources management and government. Many of these applications use airborne information, but would also benefit from ground-based positioning and imaging. While satellite and aerial imaging provide exceptional overhead views and long-range details, the only way to capture comprehensive eye-level views is from the ground.

Russian Space Systems and Trimble Agreement

The Russian Space Systems corporation and the U.S. Trimble Navigation Group have signed an agreement to create a joint satellite navigation venture in Russia, the Russian company has said.

Each of the companies will hold a 50% stake in the Rusnavgeoset company, which will produce Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) geodetic network infrastructure systems, a statement posted on Russian Space Systems' website said.

"This high-technology, innovative sphere of activities directly contributes to the commercializing of GLONASS," the statement said.

GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), the Russian equivalent of the U.S. GPS (Global Positioning System), is designed for both military and civilian use. Both systems allow users to determine their positions to within a few meters.

Federal and local government agencies, as well as large companies are expected to purchase the equipment to be produced by Rusnavgeoset.

The company, to be based in Moscow, will be officially launched at the GLONASS Forum in Moscow on June 1, 2010.

Trimble Forms New Mapping & GIS Industry Solutions Group

Trimble has formed a new industry solutions group within its Mapping and GIS Division. The new group, known as the Market Solutions Team, will work with strategic customers in key industries such as utilities, natural resources, transportation and municipal government to develop advanced data use solutions for field workers involved in the collection, management and utilisation of geospatial information.

Over the last 30 years, Trimble has developed a portfolio of market-leading hardware and software products focused on the field data collection of fixed assets using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.

After a series of successful product launches, Trimble realised the need for a complementary set of solutions for an ever-growing number of field workers who leverage those assets in their daily business operations. The market solutions team will work closely with customers in selected industries to deliver easy-to-use and customised GPS and GIS solutions. It aims to deliver innovative solutions that improve the efficiency of the field workforce and foster the development of new products that can be distributed through Trimble's global network of authorised mapping and GIS resellers.

The team will initially focus on projects in North America where Trimble has identified a number of opportunities to collaborate with organisations that have large numbers of field workers managing geospatial information. It will also work with the UK-based Trimble professional services (TPS) group already focused on the European market.

Indoor Mobile Mapping Solution for Capturing Interior Spaces in 2D and 3D Visualization Models

Trimble introduced an indoor mobile mapping solution for facilities management at SPAR 2010 Conference on 3D Imaging and Positioning. Using innovative technologies, this solution produces fast and accurate maps allowing users to translate their environments directly into 2D and 3D models of structured interiors. The solution enables building owners, facilities managers, engineers and construction professionals to more efficiently plan and manage building assets and properties.

Currently, mapping an indoor space can be time consuming. A tripod, laser and camera are set up to capture measurements and images at various locations. The equipment is then moved and set up multiple times until all perspectives of a room are captured. With the new Trimble solution, a simple walk-through of an interior space allows for 360 degree indoor coverage. Geo-referenced spatial data is captured accurately and quickly as the mobile system moves through the building at walking speed. The solution integrates active and passive sensors with an intuitive user workflow to enable true indoor GIS capability. Maps and models, covering thousands of square feet of indoor space, can be created in minutes and entire buildings can typically be completed in a day.

New Placer Gold GPS Receivers from Trimble

Trimble releases Placer Gold receiver, a 12-channel GPS receiver, designed to provide reliable, fully-configurable vehicle location and reporting for mission-critical automatic vehicle location (AVL) applications. Trimble's Placer receivers are used by public safety and emergency responders to more efficiently locate and dispatch response vehicles.

In addition to 12 channels, the Placer Gold features indicator lights (a new feature not previously available on the Placer 450), a small form factor, and compatibility with point-to-point protocol (PPP) data radios. The Placer Gold DRU’s on-board dead reckoning sensor outputs position data in the absence of satellite signal reception using a built-in angular rate sensor, a vehicle speed input, and a reverse signal input. This solution allows dispatchers to track vehicles through obstructed areas, such as tunnels, urban canyons, and mountains.

•Reliability: The Placer product line has had a mean time between failures (MTBF) of more than 100,000 hours. This reliability results in a need for fewer spares to support a large fleet and one spare unit can typically serve as a back up for a fleet of up to 1,000 vehicles, Trimble said.

•Robustness: Throughout its history of actual field usage, the company said, the Placer product line has proven to be robust, generally unaffected by in-vehicle radio frequency interference (RFI) or a "sagging" power source.

•Full configuration: With two separate serial/USB ports, multiple output protocols (NMEA and TAIP) and a digital I/O port, the Placer Gold may be configured to work with major public safety Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, in-vehicle mapping and/or CAD application software. The Placer Gold receiver can connect directly to a laptop, a mobile data radio modem, or both a laptop and modem, with each independent serial port configured to output the same or different protocols and baud rates.

•Time and distance reporting: It allows triggering of position reports when time or distance criteria are met; this feature allows emergency responders to automatically increase the reporting frequency based on vehicle speed, which results in reduced network bottlenecks and wireless transmission costs.

GPS and GIS Webinar from Trimble

Trimble announced the launch of a new Webinar series for the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) professional.

These instructive sessions are live, interactive, online events that cover a range of topics including new product introductions, industry solutions for the field worker, business partner offerings, and education on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology in mapping and GIS. To be offered every 4-6 weeks, the Webinars provide a forum for learning about new technology developments from Trimble as well as keeping up with the latest trends in geo-enabling the mobile workforce.

"The GPS and GIS knowledge within Trimble represents a valuable resource for our customers and potential users," said Robert Laudati, director of marketing for the Mapping & GIS Division. "The Webinars provide an interactive environment for learning about positioning and geospatial technology while networking with Trimble staff, industry experts, and online participants."

The first session, held on July 2, 2009, focused on the new Trimble Professional Services (TPS) group. TPS offers software development for field data capture and mobile GIS solutions using Trimbler FastmapT technology, including back office integration and system implementation. TPS services are currently available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and have been deployed in a broad range of industries including utilities, agriculture, public works, emergency management, and environmental management. The August 19, 2009 session focused on new solutions from Trimble's Utility Field Solutions (TUFS) group, which included the Trimble UtilityCenterr Field Inspector and Maintenance-2 Software

Trimble International User Conference ends

Trimble opened its Dimensions 2009 conference on Monday with more than 2,400 registered attendees from 67 countries around the world. The conference theme—Positioning for Success Today. And Tomorrow—provided insight into how surveying, engineering, construction, mapping, Geographic Information System (GIS), geospatial and mobile resource management professionals worldwide can harness the power of today’s technology to help face tomorrow’s challenges. Trimble Dimensions 2009 was held February 23-25 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Attendees had the opportunity to network with key industry leaders, develop new contacts, build partnerships, discuss opportunities and discover how to overcome obstacles in today’s competitive business environment. With more than 300 sessions across multiple specialty tracks, the conference focused on increasing productivity in the field and the office to transform the way work is done.

The conference included an off-site demonstration and training area and a Partners Pavilion that showcased the complete suite of Trimble construction, survey, engineering, aerial and mobile mapping, GIS and infrastructure solutions, including products from Applanix, Crain, Geo 3D, INPHO, Meridian Systems, Pacific Crest, Quantm, RolleiMetric, SECO, Tripod Data Systems (TDS), TopoSys and XYZ Solutions. Trimble Access software in March 2009

Trimble has introduced Trimble Access software, a new field and office solution for surveyors that is claimed to expedite data collection, processing, analysis, and project information delivery through improved workflows, collaboration and control.

The complete solution speeds both typical and specialized surveying tasks, and enables easy, fast and secure two-way information sharing between the field survey crew and the office. Surveys can be completed faster with less time spent traveling back and forth to the office. Management and field crews can closely collaborate by viewing the same information in near real-time.

Minimizing rework and improving productivity is the basis for Trimble's ongoing focus on Connected Site solutions. The principles of connectivity and total workflow integration provide surveyors with the day-to-day flexibility to adapt to a variety of situations in the field and office—in near real time. The ability to seamlessly share survey information between the field and office while streamlining survey operations in the field, make Trimble Access the ideal tool to take organizations to the next level of productivity and help keep project costs on target and under budget.

The four components of the Trimble Access solution include: Trimble Access services, base software for typical survey applications, specialised application modules, and the Trimble Connected Community.

Trimble Access software, including a variety of modules and subscription services, is expected to be available in March of 2009.

Trimble Nomad 800X series computers

Trimble introduced the AT&T Inc. -enabled Nomad 800X Series computers, three new models of its popular outdoor rugged handheld computer that offer Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) functionality and integrated quad-band GSM cellular data transmission, digital photography and bar-code scanning in one device.

The Nomad 800X Series models use a built-in high-speed wireless data modem and AT&T's nationwide1 EDGE network to allow users to communicate from the field to a central office or other location. Nomad 800X Series computer users can send and receive real-time data and SMS messages via a cellular network at speeds up to 1 Mb per second wherever cellular connectivity is available.

The Nomad 800XE handheld computer features bar-code scanning capabilities, making it a valuable tool across a broad array of applications in industries where in-the-field bar-code scanning is essential, including asset management, tracking and warehousing. It delivers up to three scans per second, offers easy field-to-office connectivity, and provides all-day usage of eight hours on a single battery charge. Users can choose from a range of compatible battery options, as well as add an ergonomic pistol-grip attachment that improves efficiency for mobile bar-code scanning.

In addition, users can access the Internet and e-mail, and use optional software and built-in GPS capability to transmit their position in the field. The Nomad 800X Series computers work on GSM cellular networks globally, including AT&T in the U.S.

Other models in the series include the Nomad 800XC, which offers a 2.0-megapixel digital camera, and the Nomad 800XE, which features both the camera and a laser bar-code scanner.

The Nomad 800X Series models include a flexible, high-strength antenna as well as signal-strength indicators, and they carry an IP67 rating and meet stringent MIL-STD-810F military standards for drops, vibration and extreme temperatures. They feature the Windows Mobile operating system for easy compatibility with a wide variety of common and specialized software applications.

Pricing and Availability

Nomad 800X Series rugged handheld computers are available now at authorized Trimble dealers. List prices range from $2,449 to $3,049 based on model. There is no upgrade available for current Nomad handheld computer owners, and users will need to purchase a data package from a cellular carrier in order to use a Nomad 800X Series device.

Trimble's Utility Field Inspection for Jo-Carroll Energy

Trimble announced that Jo-Carroll Energy, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative in Illinois, will be implementing its GIS-based Trimble UtilityCenter uaMaintenance module for utility field inspection and asset management. Jo-Carroll Energy is a member owned and controlled utility which provides electricity, natural gas and associated services at cost to its consumer members in Jo-Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties. The cooperative serves more than 25,000 commercial, industrial and residential customers.

Jo-Carroll Energy previously selected the Trimble UtilityCenter Software Suite for GIS utility mapping, outage management and field staking. The increased focus on system reliability and world class customer service has led Jo-Carroll Energy to extend the functionality of the Trimble UtilityCenter solution by adding the uaMaintenance module.

Trimble's UtilityCenter software is currently used by more than 100 electric, gas, water and wastewater utilities throughout the U.S.
